The Yakima County Republican Party recognizes the dignity and value of every individual and believes that a just government is based on the people’s right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Government must be strictly limited in its powers and preserve the original understanding of principles found in the Declaration of Independence and the constitutions of Washington State and the United States of America. Unconstitutional powers wielded by the federal and state governments must be rightfully returned to ‘We the People’.

As Republicans there are some things we hold dear: One is that the strength of our nation lies with the dignity of the individual, and that each person’s dignity, freedom, ability, and responsibility must be honored.  Another is the premise that our government was formed to protect the freedoms and rights of each citizen. In order to fully protect those freedoms the role of government must necessarily be limited in its control over its citizens through laws, regulation, and taxation.  

Our basic freedom, the value that makes our country unique in the world is rooted in free enterprise and the right to private property.  The role of government is to preserve and defend our ability to live in a free and peaceful society.  

We reaffirm the words of our founding fathers as written in the Declaration of Independence: 

“We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness, that to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

Our Republic was founded as one nation under God on principles clearly set forth in the Declaration of Independence and codified in our Constitution.   One of the goals of the Yakima County Republican Central Committee is to serve as an extension of those principles.
